GCW are retained by Loaf the furniture retailer on all property matters. They have been involved with transactions on all their “Shacks” they occupy. These range from roadside locations, former car showrooms, shopping centres, out of town and high street locations. The locations and properties tend to be quirky and distinctive in keeping with the brand.
Islington has long been a location that Loaf have been interested in but opportunities on Upper Street or within the Angel Shopping Centre were ruled out as being too expensive for Loaf’s requirement. Islington Square was also dismissed as being not right for them.
Therefore, to satisfy their requirement, GCW had to think laterally of alternative options that potentially could fulfil their requirement for a decent amount of space with its own presence at an affordable rental.
Having done the pavement pounding and research a former auction house in Essex Road was identified giving a prominent corner position with over of 5,000 sq ft of space at an affordable rent.
This will follow the successful opening of their Chiswick store in 2024.
Another good example of GCW’s use of data, boots on the ground and the valuable assistance our knowledge of alternative sectors provides in delivering solutions for challenging London suburb requirements.
